INTRODUCTION
Why Teaching?
My reason for pursuing a career in education is multifaceted. Teaching is dynamic, challenging, profession that forces you to become a life long learner. Teaching is a vocation that strays away from the status quo and allows you to take your passions and share them with future generations. The ever-changing environment in which a teacher gets to work is something that appeals to me a great deal. There are very few experiences that compare to seeing a student understand and grow because of something YOU did. Whether it is something small, like helping them understand the objective of the lesson, or helping them to ignite a passion that they will take with them for the rest of their lives, teaching provides an opportunity that not many professions can. This is the overarching reason I have decided to pursue a career in education.
Educational / Occupational Background
I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with my BSc. in Kinesiology in 2012. Since graduating, went on to attain my Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation.
Upon completing my CEP certification, I began my work at the Lethbridge College Be Fit For Life Centre. Through this role, I had the opportunity to work with both teachers and students in an effort to promote Physical Literacy. |
Hobbies & Interests
My hobbies center around physical activity. I played hockey for the majority of my life, which is what brought me to The University of Lethbridge in the first place.
Since retiring from competitive sport, I have continued to play hockey recreationally. However, I have begun to find interests in many other areas of physical activity. I enjoy nearly any team activity but have begun to find great enjoyment in running, biking and hiking. When I'm not being physically active, I enjoy spending time with my wife Jessica and our golden lab Molly. I've also been known to strum the guitar from time to time. |
